On the afternoon of January 14th, the School of Foreign Languages held the 2021 annual work summary meeting. All the faculty and student representatives attended the meeting, which was presided over by Tao Qin, associate dean of SFL.

Chang Hui, executive associate dean of SFL, summed up the work of SFL. In 2021, SFL took the central inspection and rectification as an opportunity to comprehensively and deeply promote the party building, and achieved remarkable results in talent training, scientific research, faculty building, social services and other work. By centering on innovative talents cultivation, first-class undergraduate courses were created; In actively implementing the task of “fostering morality and education people”, many teachers and students won international and national academic awards; By aligning with the frontier of discipline development, the construction of academic journals made breakthroughs; Scientific research continued to climb; The number of high-level papers increased significantly; Major breakthroughs were made in talent plan; Remarkable achievements were made in talent recruitment; and the faculty structure were continuously optimized. Chang Hui expressed his expectation that the faculty and students of SFL would continue to work together, innovate and take solid steps in the new year to push all the work to a new level.

The SFL Annual Contribution Award Ceremony was held to commend the advanced teachers who made outstanding contributions and played an exemplary role in 2021 in teaching, scientific research, management, class teachers’ work and other front-line work. Cao Hui, Wu You, Yu Min and Jin Wenfeng won respectively the first prize of Annual Contribution Award. Five teachers, Wang Pin, Zou Li, Yang Feng, Lin Yuzhen and Lai Liangtao, won respectively the second prize of the Annual Contribution Award.

Centering on teaching, scientific research, management and service, and class teachers’ work respectively, four teachers, Cao Hui, Wu You, Yu Min and Jin Wenfeng, delivered their acceptance speeches, sharing their work experience and expressing their deep feelings to the school, colleagues and students.

Ding Jian, Secretary of CPC SFL Committee, read out the school's decision on the recognition of advanced learning on "Learning Empowers China" platform in the third and fourth quarters of 2021. In 2021, SFL has carried out the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on the party history study and education mobilization conference, innovate the form of education carrier, and continue to promote the in-depth combination of “Leaning Empowers China” platform and party history study and education, achieving remarkable learning results for party members.

The 2020 postgraduate party branch and the undergraduate party branch won the honorary title of "Advanced Party Branch" of the university, and the faculty members Lai Liangtao and student members Huang Yun, Xu Xiaofeng, Yang Yang, Du Muyu and Sun Qiyu won the honorary title of "Learning Talent" of the university.

The title of SFL’s Advanced Learning Party Branch was awarded to 2020 postgraduate party branch, the third faculty party branch, the undergraduate party branch, the sixth faculty party branch, the first faculty party branch and 2021 postgraduate party branch. Lai Liangtao, Xing Lianqing, Jin Jing, Deng Menghan, Huan Changpeng and other faculty members and Xu Xiaofeng, Wang Yi, Peng Siyuan, Zhang Peng and other student party members won the honorary title of "Learning activist". Ding Jian and Chang Hui presented prizes to the teachers and students.

At the meeting, Ding Jian conveyed the university’s deployment of epidemic prevention and control work, requiring all teachers and students to strictly implement epidemic prevention and control measures, keep relevant records, and actively cooperate.

Miss Cao Hui made a speech on the ideological and political construction of the curriculum. By combining with "knowledge, practicality and interest", Cao Hui investigated the needs of ideological and political courses, so as to make teaching plan analysis strategies. In 2021, SFL has made remarkable achievements in the ideological and political construction of foreign language courses, and will continue to make great efforts in the future.

It is time to bid a farewell to 2021 and look forward to 2022. Based on the new development stage, SFL faculty will implement the new development concepts and construct a new development pattern, promote high-quality development of central work, striving to build a first-class foreign language discipline and a harmonious SFL.
