On the afternoon of November 9, the second multilingual recitation concert of the School of Foreign Languages, with the theme of “Red Songs-Singing for a Century of Glory in the Golden Autumn”, which was sponsored by the Trade Union of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and hosted by the School of Foreign Languages and co-organized by the School of Humanities, was successfully held in the concert hall of the School of Humanities. Su Zuojun, Executive deputy Director of the Women’s Committee of SJTU and part-time vice Chairwoman of the Trade Union of SJTU,  Xiao Guofang, vice chairman of the Trade Union of SJTU,  Wang Ning, Dean of the School of Humanities,  Ding Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the SFL,  Chang Hui, Dean of the SFL,  Zhu Yifan, vice Director of the International Affairs Division of SJTU,  Lu Siyu, office head of the Publicity Division of SJTU，and other leaders and guests attended the event.  More than 140 students and friends from all departments and offices of the SFL, as well as other schools, functional departments and cultural and sports associations of SJTU participated in the activity. 

 

Su Zuojun delivered the opening sppech. The multi-lingual recitation concert, a brand project with SFL characteristics, had been successfully implemented from the first project declaration to the second, demonstrating its profound implications and infinite vitality. She hoped that multi-lingual recitation concert will become a window and platform to showcase the spirit of the SFLers in the journey of studying the 20th National Congress and making contributions. More excellent performances were expected to pop up and advance into a higher and broader platform. Finally, she wished the event every success. 

 

Then concert kicked off with the beautuiful singing of “Me and My motherland”. The simple and sincere lyrics, coupled with appealling melody, demonstrated pepole’s heartfelt attachment to the great motherland.

 

 

15 programs from the SFL’s Trade Union branches, party branches and departments, SFL Chior, recitation association, dance squad and other associations took to the stage one after another, including the poetry recitation of “I am proud. I am Chinese.”, “Forge ahead on a New Journey and Remember the way to Come---- Poems about Heroes”, “I meet you in Shanghai in Autumn”; the multilingual recitation of “the Communist Manifesto”, and “Feel Happiness across Time and Space” ; the dialect recitation of “I wish I were a stream”; the dance of “Summer Waltz”;  the sitcom of “The Story of Ansai’s First Woman Mayor”; the chorus of “the Sea, My Hometown”, “the Hawthorn Tree”; the solo of “Sunset Red”; and the musical instrument playing of “Pastoral” and “Spring River and Flowers in the Moonnight”. The performances were rich, colorful and lively, fully reflecting the characteristics of each departments and branches, as well as their own spirit and style. In particular, the fashion show themed “Urban Style” from the administrative Trade Union of the SFL, which showcased the spirit of diversity and unity, won warm applause from the audience. 

 

 

At the end of the event, some excellent performances from the First Recitation Concert was awaded. 

 

 

The event, which was also part of the 6th SJTU Faculty’s Cultural and Art Festival, was sponsored by the Trade Union of the SFL in response to the requirement of SJTU Trade Union’s “ 2023 Ideological and Political Leading Special Program”.
