On 1 November 2023, Professor Liu Kanglong, Head of Undergraduate Program of the Department of Chinese and Bilingualism of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), held an information session for undergraduate students of the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on the Joint Double Degree program and its application process. Undergraduates of class 2022 and class 2023 of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University participated in this event.

Ms. Yu Jing from the Department of Translation, School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, hosted the seminar. First of all, Tao Qing, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, outlined the basic situation of the double degree program and its significance. Professor Liu then introduced the Department of Chinese and Bilingualism of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in detail, as well as the specific contents, admission requirements, program planning and application procedures of the double degree program. Professor Liu's lecture aroused the interest of nearly 50 teachers and students present, and the students asked questions to get more information. Professor Liu Kanglong, Dean Tao Qing, Ms Yu Jing, and Ms Liu Jia from the Teaching and Research Office gave detailed answers to different questions.

The event not only answered students' questions about the double degree program, but also allowed students to better understand the strengths of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in terms of academic, environment and career prospects. Professor Lau encouraged all students present to seize this valuable opportunity to expand their academic and professional horizons.

The activity ended successfully in  warm exchange and discussion. Students reported that the event benefited them greatly, which stimulated their enthusiasm and motivated them to continue to pursue their academic goals.
