On March 2, the award ceremony of the 4th Siyuan Huawei Cup Creative Translation Competition and School-Enterprise Cooperation and Translation Education Seminar took place at the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Industry experts and leaders gathered to explore ways to cultivate new translation talents in the age of digitization, to promote translation education, and to deepen school-enterprise cooperation. 

 

The keynote report session, which was presided over by Li Xiaochun, began after the award ceremony of the 4th Siyuan Huawei Cup Creative Translation Competition was concluded. Chen Shengquan, founder of Huawei Translation Center, delivered a keynote speech on "How to develop high-quality technical documents" online. With the title of "Practice Teaching in Translation Professional Education", Mu Lei discussed the current situation, the sore point and direction of improvement in translation talent training. Tao Qing, Dean of the Translation Department and Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a report on the topic of "Translation Empowered by Big Language Models: Conceptual Change and Process Reengineering".

 

In the afternoon, the seminar on School-Enterprise Cooperation and Translation Education kicked off in Conference Room 215, Wenbo Building, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The seminar was chaired by Zhang Ailing. Experts and business elites had a warm discussion on the cultivation of translation talents, discipline construction and school-enterprise cooperation.

Jiang Yanfei delivered a keynote speech on "School-Enterprise Cooperation and Translation Education". 

 

Zhu Yifan delivered a keynote speech on "Innovative Translation Professionals in the School of Foreign Languages".

 

Chen Bing, director of the Discipline Construction Office of the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, made comment. He said that the seminar was rich in content and of great significance to strengthening the training of high-end translation talents. The Graduate School will continue to support the construction of the translation discipline and create a good platform for the training of translation talents.
