The Japanese Department Holds the 2025 China-Japan Cultural Exchange Conference with Kwansei Gakuin University

On March 5, 2025, in order to broaden international perspectives, promote cultural exchanges between China and Japan, and enhance mutual understanding among college students of the two countries, the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the International Studies Department of Kwansei Gakuin University held the 2025 China-Japan Cultural Exchange Conference in Room 107 of Yang Yongman Building. Professor Kiya Hata, Assistant to the President of the International Studies Department of Kwansei Gakuin University and Professor of International Studies; Professor Jin Wenfeng, Director of the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Associate Director Wang Lin, and Teacher Watanabe Ryohei, along with nearly 50 teachers and students from both sides, participated in this exchange. 

SFL had already conducted multiple exchange activities with Kwansei Gakuin University, developing a deep friendship. This event was hosted by Zhu Jiaxuan, a SFL student. At the beginning of the exchange, Wang Lin delivered a speech, warmly welcoming the teachers and students from Kwansei Gakuin University and putting forward the significance of strengthening cultural exchanges between Chinese and Japanese youth in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence and globalization. 

 

Subsequently, Mr. Ryohhei Watanabe gave a brief explanation of the meeting. Then, the students from both schools gave a presentation on the current education and employment situations in China and Japan, starting from the surface and then delving deeper. The student representative from Kwansei Gakuin University detailed the research results on Japanese education and compared the differences and reasons between China and Japan in higher education and employment. Lu Wenxin, a student from SFL, summarized the attitudes of the 22nd grade Japanese department students towards overseas employment and pointed out the opportunities and challenges of overseas employment to Chinese students. The teachers and students from both schools enthusiastically shared their insights, gaining a deeper understanding of each other's education and employment situations. 

 

 

At noon, students had lunch together. The Chinese students introduced Chinese cuisine to their Japanese counterparts who had come from afar. During the process of enjoying Chinese food, the students from China and Japan decoded food culture through conversations at the table, further enhancing the cultural exchange between the youth of the two countries. In the afternoon, the group discussion and exchange began. Students from China and Japan shared and discussed topics such as club activities, curriculum settings, and employment situations. Through the collision of ideas and cultures, the students from both countries deepened their mutual understanding and broadened their international perspectives. After the discussion session, each group presented their discussion results in turn. 

Finally, Mr. Kishi Hajime from Kwansei Gakuin University made a concluding speech, encouraging the teachers and students of both schools to enhance communication and connection, and hoping that the friendship between the two schools would last forever.
